We want your trip with Kumuka to be the experience of a lifetime, not merely a tour through the country that you visit. Like the many areas we cover, our holidays come in many different guises. Some are in areas where good roads and hotels exist, whilst others have a more demanding feel to them.

Our trips can be categorised into three styles - overland expeditions, local and private transport tours and coach tours through Europe.

OVERLAND EXPEDITIONS

All Kumuka overland expedition tours take place on our traditional blue trucks carrying a maximum of 24 passengers. These trips use a combination of camping and/or hotel accommodation. Overland trips can be physically quite demanding but are suitable for almost anyone with a healthy appetite for adventure.

Overland expeditions offer more flexibility and adventure using Kumuka's purpose built vehicles. Totally self-sufficient and carrying all the equipment we need - all trucks are equipped with a large water tank, long range fuel tanks, cool box, stereo, cooking gear, tents and camping equipment, they have the ability to take us away from the usual well trodden tourist route and to more remote locations.

All food whilst camping is included. There is a large selection of foods purchased at the local markets by the group and cooked by the group! (Special eating preferences can be catered for). When staying in hotels or guesthouses, you are free to choose your own style of food from a large variety of local restaurants, thereby sampling the local cuisine and better enhancing your travelling experience.

LOCAL AND PRIVATE TRANSPORT TOURS

These trips are ideal for those with an adventurous spirit. They cover some of the areas we visit and give travellers a real insight into the local way of life.

Local and private transport trips are restricted to a maximum of 16 participants and 12 for tours in Nepal.

Within the countries we travel, we use the best means of transport available - meaning that sometimes the ride itself turns into the highlight of the day! We use a wide variety of transport, ranging from the famous 'Chicken buses' to taxis, speed boats and canoes, trains, private mini-vans, air-conditioned coaches, horses and 4WD vehicles for the more inaccessible areas.

Meals are generally not included except where listed, but your guide will be on hand to recommend the best places to eat for a variety of budgets. Accommodation will vary depending on the areas visited. The facilities may vary - but whether it's a lodge or hotel near a game park, a houseboat on a river or even a tent in the desert, our aim is to bring you the authentic atmosphere of the area you are in and so enhance your tour.

EUROPEAN COACH TOURS

'Travel in Comfort' is the watchword for our European tours. Modern, air-conditioned coaches, complete with superior seating, stereo and video systems and large tinted windows, ensure each journey is very comfortable. To make the longer drives more relaxing we offer a selection of documentary videos on the cities and sights ahead, as well as movies for your entertainment.

In Europe, our accommodation is Hotel based only. All the hotels that we use are of superior standard rated three star or above. All rooms are on a twin share basis only with en-suite facilities. Most hotels are centrally located allowing Kumuka customers easy access to all the major sights.
